Question about Team Speak
I am a veteran of RPGs, but have never used team speak etc. What is the best software etc. to use to get set up for in-game voice chatting. Free software download would be ideal of course.
I did a general search and did not find an answer, so if you can help or send me a link to help I would much appreciate it.
Thanks and good fortune.

On our guild site there used to be a link, I think it was Ventrilo.com???? not sure. I think the link is on the opening message when I log onto the game. If nobody else answers, give me a whisper ingame. IGN Mr. Wirt, and Im usually on after abouts 11pm pst.

I guess it's always best to have multiple programs.
Most used are Teamspeak and Ventrilo. Both are free and easily googled^^

Thanks for the suggestion...I also heard about Skype from my buddy. Are Teamspeak and Ventrilo really free? I heard that the software is free, but that you have to have a server.

Only 1 user has to have a server. All other users can join it.
(For Teamspeak you can download the Server-program and/or the normal program.)
Skype is great as an internet phone. I use it daily. But it's not the best option to communicate for a larger group. TS and Vent use lesser bandwidth I guess and don't get laggy....

I think the server software is free as well, but you have to have a server to run it on, which obviously isn't free.

Pretty sure client and server side are free on Vent and TS assuming you arent using it for a business purpose.
There is a limit to one of them for running a server. More than 6 or 8 people and you need to either rent a server or pay the makers of the program to use it. We've always just rented one. It seems like most people prefer Ventrilo of the 2 most common ones. I always liked Teamspeak, although I have both on my computer.

We use both teamspeak and ventrillo. To my knowledge, they are both free until to upgrade to a private server, and add more channels/users. I think with the free version, it's public. You would pay for the registered server and add a password. I am sure the sites go into it further, regarding the costs.. Hope this helps.

For Teamspeak, you do not need a separate computer to act as a server. You just have one of your group download and set up the server software on his/her computer, then the whole group downloads and sets up the user software. The member acting as the server runs both software sections.

Yeah, the main 2 voice chat systems are Vent and Ts. Both are pretty much the same. You could also use skype which is meant to have unbeatable quality, but i heard alot of people complaining about lag.
